The ‘Sycamore Gap Tree’ grows in the dip below Highshield Crags in Hadrian’s Wall. It has been declared by the Woodland Trust, to be England’s Tree of the Year for 2016. It is one of the best loved and most photographed trees in the United Kingdom. It was used in the 1991 feature film, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner.
